When you drive across a border, the easiest saving is to fill up on the cheaper side. Below are the current average prices in Poland and its EU neighbours, with the difference per litre and on a typical 50-litre fill-up.

The gaps between countries change from week to week, and sometimes the order flips – especially when exchange rates move. Use the buttons above the chart for a longer period.

Germany

The gap between Poland and Germany is usually the largest of all its neighbours, because Germany has high excise duty and a CO₂ levy on fuel. That's why stations on the Polish side at Słubice, Zgorzelec or Kołbaskowo are busy with German drivers. Heading west, fill up before the border; heading east, wait until you're in Poland if your range allows.

On the Szczecin – Berlin drive, for example, almost the whole trip is in Germany – the calculator costs that part at the German price.

Czechia and Slovakia

The differences here are smaller and change from week to week – sometimes Poland is cheaper, sometimes the neighbour. Check the table before you go. Czech and Slovak motorways need an electronic vignette (edalnice.cz, eznamka.sk), so add its price to the fuel cost.

Lithuania

On the Warsaw – Vilnius route, nearly 40% of the distance is in Lithuania. Compare the prices in the table: if the Lithuanian side is dearer, fill up around Suwałki or Augustów.
