Czechia on the way south

Czechia is the shortest way from southern Poland to Austria, Croatia and Italy. On the Kraków – Vienna route (465 km) the Czech stretch is about half the distance, with Austria beyond it:

If Austria comes out more expensive, it pays to fill up in Poland or Czechia and reach your destination without stopping for fuel in Austria. The full breakdown is on the Kraków – Vienna route page.

Fuel names and the vignette

Czech motorways and expressways require an electronic vignette. Buy it on the official site, edalnice.cz – it's linked to your number plate, so there's nothing to stick on the windscreen. Options range from a few days to a full year. Avoid reseller sites that charge more for the same vignette.

Roads without the vignette requirement are free but usually slower. Cost your own trip to Czechia and beyond in the Tankful calculator, and compare prices across the EU in the fuel prices in Europe table.
